About Orbital Advisory Group

Orbital Advisory Group helps organizations run better retirement plans by strengthening financial governance, cleaning up operations, and making participant decisions easier. For more than 25 years, we’ve focused on plan-level accountability and practical improvements you can see, measure, and document.

Our Service Standard

We commit precisely. We deliver completely. We document everything.

That means plain-English scopes, visible milestones, dated artifacts for your fiduciary file, and clear reporting on what changed and why. We are independent, level-fee, and transparent—so the focus stays on what benefits the plan and its participants.

How We Work

Good plans run on rhythm. We set a steady governance cadence with real minutes and decisions, keep payroll and data feeds clean with defined SLAs, and coordinate recordkeeper, TPA, payroll, advisor, custodian, and counsel so each provider stays in their lane. For participants, we remove friction with defaults that work, concise education, and tools like Venrollment so acting takes seconds—not meetings. Every step is recorded and benchmarked so committees can track progress over time.

Leadership

Dr. W. Scott Hinds, MBA, MS

Scott is the founder and principal of Orbital Advisory Group, LLC. He brings 25+ years in financial services across nonprofit and corporate settings with a focus on plan governance, fiduciary oversight, and evidence-based decision-making. He earned an Executive Doctorate in Business Administration from Drexel University in 2025, an MBA in Marketing and Finance from St. Bonaventure University, and an MS in Communications from Syracuse University. His doctoral research quantified how default design and administrative attention influence saving behavior, and how loan usage can drag on plan-level returns—insights he applies to improve sponsor governance and participant outcomes. Before launching Orbital in its current form, Scott founded and later sold a 402(a) named-fiduciary firm. He is known for coordinating complex provider ecosystems and reducing friction in cost, education, and access.

Beyond his professional work, Scott serves as a Senior Coach with the Webster BlueFins swim club, is active within USA Swimming, and sits on the Board of the Chili Soccer Association, supporting programs that benefit hundreds of local families. He lives in Churchville, New York, with his wife, Andrea, and their children, Ben and Briar.
